Edit existing text

Fix the text. Keep the PDF.

A PDF lands in Mail or Messages and something in it is wrong. A misspelled name, last month's date, an amount that changed after the file was made.

Markup can draw on it. It cannot rewrite the words.

Tap the line, type the correction, save the file. The old text comes out rather than getting covered, and the replacement is matched to the original size and font so nothing shifts.

How to edit a PDF on iPhone

  1. 1. Choose PDF

Pick the file from Files, iCloud Drive, or wherever it landed.

  2. 2. Tap and edit

Tap a line, type your correction, repeat until the page reads right.

  3. 3. Save PDF

Download the corrected file straight back to your iPhone.

No App Store detour, and the file never leaves your phone.

Real editing

Edit the actual text

Most phone PDF tools are annotation tools. They highlight, they draw, they stick a fresh text box on top. TeraConvert takes the old words out of the file and writes yours in their place.

No upload

Privacy

Your PDF stays private

There is no upload step, so there is nothing to delete from a server afterwards. Load the page, switch off your connection, and the editor still works.

The things people actually fix

If it is text in the file, it is editable. Most corrections are one line and take about ten seconds.

  • Name
  • Date
  • Address
  • Amount
  • Phone number
  • Invoice #

Use TeraConvert like an app

Add it to your Home Screen from Safari. It opens full screen, converts images, video, audio and documents, and keeps working offline.

Good to know

Which PDFs can be edited?

If you can select the words in the PDF, the editor can usually find them and let you change them. Exported invoices, contracts, forms and reports are all fine.

Scans are the exception. A scanned page is a photograph of text, so there is nothing to select. The editor says so plainly instead of pretending. TeraConvert for Mac reads scans with built-in OCR when you convert them.

How do I edit a PDF on iPhone?

Choose your PDF in the editor above, tap the text you want to change, type the correction, and download the edited file. Nothing to install, nothing uploaded.

Can I change text that's already in a PDF?

Yes. TeraConvert rewrites the existing words instead of dropping a text box over them. Tap the line, type the replacement, save the corrected PDF.

Can I edit a PDF on iPhone without installing an app?

Yes. The editor runs in Safari. Pick your file, make your changes, download it. There is nothing to get from the App Store.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is never sent to TeraConvert or to a server for editing. It is opened and rewritten on your phone.

Is it safe to edit private PDFs this way?

That is the point of building it this way. A contract, a payslip or a client file never leaves your iPhone. You can even switch off your connection once the page has loaded and keep editing.

What happens to the layout when I retype a line?

The editor reads the original font, size, and colour and writes your replacement in an open font with the same letter widths, so nothing shifts or reflows. You can set the font, size, and colour by hand if you prefer.

Is TeraConvert's PDF editor free?

You get 1 free conversion. If you haven't used it yet, you can edit a PDF here and download it without paying or signing up. After that you need Pro.

What does Pro cost?

One payment, once. You have 14 days to ask for it back. Nothing renews and nothing is billed per file.

Do I need an account?

Not to try it. Pick a PDF and start editing. Signing in only matters once your free conversion is spent.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

Not in the browser editor. A scanned page is a picture of text, so there is nothing to select and change. It needs OCR first, and TeraConvert for Mac has that built in.

Does TeraConvert add a watermark?

No. What you download is your document with your correction in it, and nothing stamped on top.

Do I need Adobe Acrobat?

No. Acrobat is not involved anywhere on this page, and neither is a monthly bill.

Is TeraConvert on the App Store?

No, and it doesn't need to be. Use the editor in Safari, or add TeraConvert to your Home Screen from the Share menu if you want the icon.
