Changelog

Updates are free for every tier, and the desktop app updates itself in the background. Here is what changed in each release, newest first.

v0.5.8

A changelog, a help center, and a proper guarantee

This one is mostly about being upfront. Every purchase now shows the 14-day money-back guarantee right under the buy button, the refund copy reads the same on every page (it used to contradict itself, my fault), and the privacy policy names the service that delivers account emails.

The site grew three pages. There's a help center at teraconvert.com/help covering install, tool setup, and refunds, a security page that shows you how to verify the no-upload claim yourself with your browser's network tab, and this changelog.

On the Mac app: setup no longer claims to be step 3 of a 2-step flow, the drop zone mentions batch converting, keyboard shortcuts are finally listed in Settings, and update banners now tell you what changed instead of just the version number.

v0.5.7

Safer file handling

Security pass. I went through every path where an untrusted file touches the app, web and Mac both, and tightened all of it before anyone clever could go looking.

Two smaller things rode along: PSD files now flatten to a single image instead of exporting one file per layer, and the site picked up 30 new conversion pages with clickable format chips. Also fixed Continue with Google spinning forever when the sign-in window failed to open.

v0.5.6

RAW photos and a proper formats catalog

RAW photos decode correctly now, and image cropping got fixed along the way; that pair bugged me for weeks.

Two more. When a conversion needs a tool you haven't installed yet, the prompt names what's missing instead of failing quietly, which was easily the most confusing thing in the app before this release. The formats page got rebuilt for category browsing. And sign-in got a full redo, with real feedback during Google sign-in instead of a blank wait.

v0.5.5

Previews for MKV, AVI and TS

One fix, worth its own release: converted MKV, AVI and TS videos now play back right in the preview card instead of showing a dead thumbnail.

v0.5.4

Container swaps got fast

If a conversion only changes the container, say MP4 to MKV, FFmpeg now copies the streams instead of re-encoding every frame. Jobs that took minutes finish in seconds, and the output is bit-identical where it matters.

Also collapsed the desktop upgrade prompt into a single card. The old two-card version made people read twice.

v0.5.3

Big videos preview smoothly

Large videos used to stutter in the desktop preview because the whole file had to load before playback. They stream now.

Cleaned up the account and upgrade screens while I was in there.

v0.5.2

Volume crash fix, new pricing page

Fixed a crash when dragging the volume slider. Sorry about that one.

The pricing page got a full redesign with a plan comparison table, and there's a new download page that starts your download on its own instead of making you hunt for a button.

v0.5.1

Pro formats out of hiding

The format picker used to hide Pro-only formats on the free tier, so you couldn't tell what upgrading actually buys. Now they show with a lock, and picking one explains what Pro unlocks.

v0.5.0

Free tier and the 7-day trial

Biggest change since launch: TeraConvert now has a real free tier. Convert one file at a time with size caps, no account needed, forever.

Sign in and the next 7 days run as full Pro, no card. When the trial ends nothing locks; you drop back to free and keep converting.

Also gave Markdown, HTML and text previews a proper white paper background instead of the grey card they sat on.
