Why Convert MP4 to MP3?
MP4 video files contain audio tracks that are inaccessible to music players, podcast apps, audio editors, and car stereos without the video overhead.
Extracting the MP3 separates just the audio stream into a universally compatible file that plays on every device and takes a fraction of the storage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the audio quality preserved when extracting from MP4?
The browser tool extracts the audio stream directly without re-encoding when possible, preserving the original quality. When re-encoding is required, quality is set to maximize fidelity.
Why is the MP3 so much smaller than the MP4?
The video stream is the bulk of an MP4. Dropping it leaves only the audio track, typically a tenth of the size or less.
Can I extract audio from a video with multiple audio tracks?
The default (first) audio track is extracted. Per-track selection is not exposed yet.
Can I trim the audio during extraction?
Yes. Use the audio editor (sliders icon in the file card) to set a trim range before clicking Convert.
Is my file private?
Yes. The conversion runs in your browser tab and nothing is uploaded, so your files never leave your device. The only limit is size: 500 MB for this format. Bigger files route to the desktop app.
Extracting audio from a large video library?
TeraConvert Desktop batch-extracts MP3 audio from a whole set of videos using native FFmpeg, with no 500 MB browser cap.
