Why Convert XLSX to PDF?

Sharing Excel spreadsheets exposes formulas, risks unintended edits, and breaks formatting on machines without Excel installed.

Converting to PDF preserves the exact visual layout and data without allowing modifications, making spreadsheets safe to distribute to clients, auditors, and collaborators.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will charts and graphs in my Excel file appear in the PDF?
The browser converter handles basic charts using LibreOffice rendering. Complex custom charts may not render perfectly. TeraConvert Desktop uses LibreOffice Calc with full chart rendering support.
What happens to multiple worksheets?
Each worksheet converts to a separate page in the PDF by default. The document editor lets you select specific sheets before converting.
Will my cell formatting, colors, and borders appear in the PDF?
Basic formatting including colors, borders, and font styles is preserved. Complex conditional formatting or custom number formats may render differently.
Can I convert a password-protected XLSX to PDF?
Password-protected files cannot be converted. Remove the password in Excel first: File > Info > Protect Workbook > Remove password.
Is this conversion really free, and is my file private?
Yes. The browser conversion runs entirely on your device using WebAssembly. Files are never uploaded to a server and are discarded from memory when you close the page. There is no file size tracking, no account link to your upload, and no cloud storage.
Do I need to create an account to convert files?
No. The browser converter works without signing in. An optional account is only needed if you want to save favorites, track conversion history, or upgrade to the desktop app with Polar license activation.
How fast is the conversion?
Most browser conversions complete in a few seconds. Large files (over 100 MB) or heavy formats (video, high-page PDFs) take longer depending on your device's CPU and available memory. The desktop app runs significantly faster using native engines.
