How accurate is the OCR extraction?
It depends on the image. Clear, high-resolution screenshots of printed text convert well; handwriting, low contrast, and dense multi-column layouts are where it breaks down.
What languages are supported?
The browser OCR (PP-OCRv5) supports English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. The desktop app uses Tesseract, so any language pack installed with your system Tesseract works.
Can it read handwritten text?
Printed text only. PP-OCRv5 performs poorly on handwriting; the desktop app's Tesseract does somewhat better, though handwriting is genuinely hard for any OCR engine.
Will the formatting be preserved in the TXT file?
Plain TXT output preserves line breaks and rough paragraph structure but loses formatting like bold, tables, and columns. Choose DOCX output if you need structured formatting.
Is my file private?
